According to a story by Encomium magazine, Bishop David Oyedepo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Dr. Mike Adenuga are among the top 10 Nigerian billionaires who will pay hundreds of millions of naira annually as luxury tax due to the imposition of a whooping $4,000 luxury tax by Aviation Ministry on private jet owners and operators per departure.

According to our sources, among the four jets owned by Bishop Oyedepo (Gulfstream V and G550, Bombardier and Gulfstream G430), he uses three regularly personally and for his missionary work. Thus, his luxury tax annually will be an average of N399 million.  Alhaji Aliko Dangote who has three private jets in his hanger will also pay an average of N399 million per annum.  Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jnr, whose Falcon 7x and Bombardier jet are used for personal and business purpose should pay an average of N266 million.  Governor Rotimi Amaechi and his Akwa Ibom counterpart, Governor Godswill Akpabio would shell out an average of N166.4 million annually.  Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor falls into the same category of N166.4 million naira payer.  Meanwhile, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, Jide Omokorie and Ifeanyi Ubah would pay an average of N133 million annually, while Jimoh Ibrahim falls within the N100 million category.  Furthermore, the richest woman in Nigeria, Folorunsho Alakija would spend N66 million on luxury tax.

Findings by Encomium Weekly revealed that the top 10 private jet owners who would cough millions annually on the new luxury tax are below.

The clash of the titans between the Federal Government and private jet owners reached a crescendo with the imposition of the $4,000 luxury tax on private jet owners and operators per departure.  A memo was sent to all private jet operators stating that Nigerian registered private jets would henceforth pay $3,000 for every departure, while foreign registered private jets would pay $4,000.

Ghanaian Bishop Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has labeled two of Nigeria’s celebrated pastors as partners in winning souls for the devil.

A horrific incident took place at the university town of Nsukka, Enugu State left a young girl devastated after she was defiled and her fiance shot in the head.

 

It was reported that unidentified gunmen attacked this girl who was celebrating her birthday with her fiance.

The incident reportedly occurred last Saturday when the girl’s boyfriend, identified as Sunday Ozioko, 30, took out his lover in his new Toyota Camry saloon car as part of the birthday celebration.

The gunmen, who reportedly rode in a motorcycle, blocked the vehicle along Orba Road at 6.30p.m., took over the car and sped off through Orba Market to Obollo-Afor.

They stopped at Alor-Ano CommunitySecondary School, defiled the girl and shot her fiancé, who survived the attack, but was said to be in critical condition.

A source revealed that when the two gunmen were through at 9:30p.m., they gave the victim N500, having been dropped off at Odolu in Kogi State.

REVEALED: Real Reason Why Federal Government Does Not Want ASUU Strike To End

Nigerian universities have been buffeted with agonising months of strikes for over a decade and until now, the story is pretty much the same. Government is still unwilling to give the education sector a shot in the arm.

 

Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has been on strike since June 30 and has dialogued with FG over 11 times, albeit, inconclusively.

This underscores the lukewarm posture of government towards the striking lecturers and from ASUU’s body language and utterances,  they have made it abundantly clear to anyone who cares to listen that they are ready to continue the strike even if it takes years, insisting that their decision was adequately taken in a bid to revitalise Nigerian universities.

The bone of contention is lucid in itself. An agreement was reached in 2009 that all federal universities would require a total sum of N1.5 trillion spread over three years (2009-2011) to address the rot and decay in the universities.

A 35-year-old Pastor, Yakubu Izang, was Friday remanded in prison by an Upper Area Court in Jos for allegedly defiling two underage girls.

The accused, who resides at Yan-trailer area of Jos, was arraigned for allegedly defiling the minors, who were entrusted to his care for special prayers.

He had told the girls’ elder brother, Victor Dabang, that the girls needed to be exorcised with special prayers.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the accused committed the offence on June 12. The report said that on Sept. 17 at about 1.30 p.m. Victor Dabang of Gwafang village near Jos, reported the matter at the Nasarawa Gwom Police Station.

It said the accused convinced the complainant to hand over his sisters to him for special prayers.

A 400-level student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra, was arrested this week at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State, for ingesting 25 wraps of male condoms filled with cocaine.
32 year old Chizoba Nwabuwa arrived aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight from Brazil when he tested positive to liquid cocaine, which weighed 1.250kg. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency officials say this is the first drug seizure to be made at the newly refurbished international airport.
NDLEA in a statement, said:

“The suspect excreted 25 wraps of a liquid substance that tested positive for cocaine, weighing 1.250kg. This is the first drug seizure to be made at the airport; it is exciting because we have just commenced operations.”

The Fine and Applied Arts 400-level student said he agreed to carry the drugs because his cohorts promised him N500, 000 as compensation and he wanted to use the money to develop his art gallery. Chizoba said his handlers assured him that authorities will not be able to detect liquid cocaine, so he was confident. Well, they did and now he will be facing the full wrath of the law.
